1983 Honda CM 250 Custom

Honda CM250C in front of the KLR650 Honda CM250C parked in a cul-de-sac during a morning ride before work

History:

Browsing on Facebook MarketPlace, I stumbled upon this classic. I happened to find it the same weekend as the KLR, but decided to chase down both anyway!
A very nice lady was selling it after someone had attempted to steal the bike a week before! They cut the ignition wires and dented the gas tank, but they failed to take the bike!
I knew that this project wouldnt need too much to get going, for $600 I practically felt like I was stealing it. WE GOT IT RUNNING THAT NIGHT!

Stats!

  • Starting Mileage: 28,900
  • Drum Brakes: Front & Rear! (Hope they don't kill me!)
  • Reupholstered leather seat: Comfy
  • ToolKit: Honda original
  • 6V Electrical: Dim and sad

Modifications/Future Projects

  1. Rewiring Original Ignition
    • I bought the Key, lets reconnect some wires!
    • Purchased Bullet connectors from Lowes, and reconnected all six wires back together!
    • Cleaned up the ignition cover and fit it back over my new blue bullet connections
    • Once this was completed, the Motorcycle was back to running again! I finally had a need to get my license!
  2. New Battery
    • She claimed it had a New Battery, but it was Drained
    • I was bump starting it around for the first week!
    • Had to drive around to 4 different places that didn't sell lead-acid batteries
    • Reserved one from O'Reilly Auto parts, and picked it up. They made me wait 4 hours for it, but I still had to activate the battery myself.
    • Broke the Cell Seal, and poored in the battery acid. Let charge for 3 hours. Connected it up to the bike, and fit it in the original battery box.
    • Battery has run strong for the last 2 months so far!
  3. New Rear Tire :(
    • Popped this Rear Tire Twice Already!
